Taking Skate Sharpening to a new level in EDMONTON!

TO ALL PARENTS, COACHES AND SKATERS

I am recently helping coach an Initiation 1 hockey team and have noticed that parents have to make sure the skater is properly prepared for the ice hockey session.

I have witnessed these poor players coming onto the ice with no gloves, no socks, no sweater and skate problems.

Parents do not realize the importance of having the skater properly prepared so they can have fun and reduce the risk of cold and injury.

Parents seem to think that any skate sharpening will do and send the skater out on the ice. I have checked quite a few skates on this team and most skates have not been sharpened properly, not tightened properly or have been misfit.

Skaters with bad sharpening and unbalanced in their skates will fall more often creating higher risk of injury and creates lack of confidence, ultimately the skater will not have fun.

All skaters, beginner to advanced should have their skates properly profiled and sharpened to reduce risk of injury and increase performance and balance. Shims and lifts should only be used as directed from a medical professional.

Maximum Edge comes to Edmonton

Bladz Skate Shop is a member of Maximum Edge which is truly a professional skate sharpening and profiling service that will increase performance as well as reduce the risk of injuries.

Maximum Edge is a skate sharpening supplier to the NHL including on-ice officials.

Maximum Edge and the member locations offer their hockey and figure skating customers a superior standard in skate blade maintenance. The sharpening system incorporates our own profiling and patented finishing process, which increases the number one factor in skating...

SKATER CONTROL!

This system provides an improved center of gravity, resulting in greater maneuverability and increased speed.

Get Your Skates Checked!

New or used skates are not necessarily sharpened and profiled to the skater. To reduce risk of injury and to ensure your skates will provide you with proper control and maneuverability you should have them checked for proper profile and alignment.

Proper sharpening, blade mounting, alignment and profile determine the skater’s center of gravity, body posture, body compensations and physical stress. All these affect the skating style, speed, stops, starts and a hockey player’s stick handling as well as a figure skater’s jumps and landings.

Get your gear cleaned!

Kill up to 99.99% of bacteria in your gear by forcing ozone deep into dense padding and hard-to reach
places like gloves & skates.
The Fresh Gear C40 kills bacteria 3,000 times faster than bleach and leaves
gear smelling great! Ozone is proven to kill bacteria that cause ringworm, skin rashes and the deadly super-bug MRSA. Available at Bladz Skate Shop northside location & Drop zone at southside location.

did you know?

Don't leave your skates in a car or unheated garage. Bring them inside. Water and moisture from condensation expands when frozen and will damage holders, boots and cause blades to rust. If you have plastic guards, remove and clean them.
